Audubon Society

The Audubon Society, devoted to the understanding, conservation and enjoyment of Central California’s birdlife since 1943, meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the Pacific Grove Museum, 165 Forest Ave. Information: (831) 648-5716, www.pgmuseum.org. Free.

 

Carmel Valley Gem and Mineral Society

The society, a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to promoting the study of mineralogy and geology, meets at 7 p.m. on the second Friday of the month at the Pacific Grove Museum, 165 Forest Ave. Information: (831) 648-5716, www.cvgms.com.

 

Dances of Universal Peace

Ben Lomond and Santa Cruz musicians come together the second Saturday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Monterey Peninsula, 490 Aguajito Road, Carmel, to provide instruction in multicultural ways to experience spirituality with dancing, signing and chanting. Family Day at the Monterey Museum of Art

Inspired by the museum’s current exhibition, Chuck Close: Works on Paper 1975-2012, the museum will offer a variety of activities for all ages for sharing, learning and fun, Saturday, Feb. 2, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at MMA La Mirada, 720 Via Mirada, Monterey. Fancy Nancy Valentine’s Party

The Monterey County Youth Museum, 425 Washington St., Monterey will host a fancy Valentine’s Day party, Sunday, Feb. 10 from 10-11:30 a.m. Children ages 3-6 can enjoy tea and cookies, play time, fancy art and crafts, and a story hour. Cost: $15-$20, pre-registration required: (831) 649-6444.

 

Hearing Loop Conference

Dr. Juliette Sterkens, a Wisconsin audiologist, will join four local speakers at the Hearing Loop Conference, Monday, Feb. 11 from 1-3 p.m. at the Monterey Public Library, 625 Pacific St. Free, public welcome. Information: (831) 375-4418.

 

Hearing Loss Association

The Hearing Loss Association of America Monterey Bay Chapter will host Dr. Larry Solow, audiologist at Valley Hearing Centers, who will speak about the possible connection between hearing loss and dementia, Saturday, Feb. 9, 10 a.m. to noon at the Monterey Public Library, 625 Pacific St., Monterey. MP Chamber Membership Luncheon

Provence Bakery Ribbon Cutting

Toastmasters Carmel

Tree & Garden Club Potluck

The Marina Tree & Garden Club will host its Winter Potluck, Thursday, Jan 24 from 5-8 p.m. at the Marina Library Conference Room, 190 Seaside Circle. Whalefest Monterey

Celebrate the Monterey Bay, Old Fisherman’s Wharf and whales at Whalefest Monterey, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26-27 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Old Fisherman’s Wharf, Monterey. The free two-day, family event is held during the migration of the gray whales and benefits local marine conservation nonprofit organizations. Information: montereywharf.com.
