CORRAL DE TIERRA — Music producer Kiki Wow has a new venue for her music — Ed’s Courtside Cafe at Chamisal Tennis and Fitness Club. The performances are open to all, meaning you don’t have to be a member of Chamisal to attend these events or to dine at the cafe.

Wow made her introduction to the new venue on Jan. 13 as True North, a folk music trio featuring Carmel Valley singer-songwriter Janni Littlepage together with Eva Hillered and Patrick Rydman from Sweden, provided two hours of harmonies by a cozy fireplace on a chilly afternoon.

“This is an intimate setting and I’m happy about that,” said Wow. “These are quality entertainers and here they are in front of you and you can really get to know them. This is our new hot spot for music. I think it will be phenomenal how this unfolds eventually. During the summer, we’ll be having concerts out on the tennis courts and dance parties.”

Ed’s Courtside Cafe features a gourmet menu at reasonable prices prepared by Chef Robin Sachs. Small bites and vegetarian options are available. Eduber Bonilla took over the restaurant in August 2012.

“We’re trying to make this into the next venue for music, dinner and concerts,” Bonilla said. “Even though we are at Chamisal, everyone is welcome here. You can also use our facility for private parties and you don’t have to be a member.”

On the first and third Friday of each month, Wow will be performing her “great-vibed cool music” along with Guitar Bob from 5- 7 p.m. Members and non-members can enjoy complimentary appetizers.

The third Friday of each month includes free wine tasting hosted by a different local winery each month in addition to the music and appetizers.

A monthly theme event is also planned.  February’s theme night will be Valentine’s Day and will feature John Michael singing Frank Sinatra tunes.

“The fellowship that music brings is what I’m all about,” said Wow. “People can separate on issues of politics or religion, but I find that music can get us on the same page. Music just makes us feel better.”

Ed’s Courtside Cafe is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Chamisal Tennis and Fitness Club is located at 185 Robley Road in Corral De Tierra.
