SIOUX FALLS — The Warriors Daniel Nwaelele scored 21 points off the bench and Moe Baker added another 20 points, but it was not nearly enough as Santa Cruz fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce 99-83 Tuesday night.
Nwaelele shot 4 of 6 from the three-point line. The 21 points was a season high for him. Baker’s 20 was also a season high.
But every player on the Sioux Falls Skyforce’s active roster scored in Tuesday’s game. Demetris Nichols led all scorers with 26, while Dexter Pittman, currently on assignment from the Miami Heat, logged the only double-double of the night with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Santa Cruz never led in the game and trailed by as much as 26, but went on a 15-4 run in the third quarter and cut the deficit to just three in the fourth quarter. The Skyforce shot 53.9 percent from the field and held the Warriors to just 38.2 percent shooting. Sioux Falls won the rebound battle (47-31) and scored more points in the paint (44-24).
The Santa Cruz Warriors will travel to Des Moines to take on the Iowa Energy tomorrow at 5 p.m. PST. Fans can listen to the broadcast on the Santa Cruz Warriors flagship station, KION 1460AM/101.1FM, or stream it online through the NBA D-League’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/nbadleague.
